Zhang Shuang, Head of the China Desk at Blumenthal Richter & Sumet, presented on the topic “Thailand Labor Law and Corporate Tax Overview” at the Thailand Investment Opportunities Seminar at China-ASEAN Expo 2022 (CAEXPO), on 17 September 2022. Shuang provided an overview of the frameworks of Chinese labor law and Thai labor law and made comparisons including the variety of approaches to labor maintenance costs and labor compliance procedures. She set out common tax issues for management in daily company operations and the BOI tax incentives for companies.

CAEXPO is an annual international trade show co-sponsored by China and ASEAN. The event supports the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and provides a platform for cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and deepening friendship between ASEAN and China. Chinese and ASEAN officials as well as business leaders and entrepreneurs attend the event. It was held at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nanning, Guangxi, China.

Blumenthal Richter & Sumet (BRS) sponsored the “TU Law Firm Open House 2022” internship fair at Thammasat University, on 16 September 2022. The fair is one of the largest internship-focused events of the year. It provides students with information on applying for internships and the type of work they will be involved in. There was an interview session and a law firm booth exhibition for the various law firms attending the event to provide information on their internship programs.

BRS is inviting 3rd and 4th year law students as well as new graduates from Thailand to apply for our internship program which will last for eight weeks from June to July 2023. Interns will have the opportunity to work on a variety of matters in practices including Corporate and M&A, Tax and Customs, Real Estate as well as Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
